The Scholars' Latino Initiative (SLI), a program of the Center for Global Initiatives at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is dedicated to providing higher education opportunities for Latino youth in North Carolina. Through the completion of a structured three-year program, selected students from under-resourced high schools develop an enthusiasm for higher education, prepare academically for college success, receive assistance in the college application process, and seek scholarships to make college enrollment a reality.
More than 100 undergraduates and faculty volunteer around 8,000+ hours each academic year to help high school mentees realize their dream of college attendance. SLI has enjoyed tremendous success, sending students to universities across the U.S.
